Pic unrelated. Sort of.

Veronica called me. Very nice convo - she's calling me tonight. Hoping to see her in the week she's recovering, it being my spring break and all. I'll see if she can pledge some financial assistance in that: I'm saving up myself.

I do rather like St. Valentine's day (and the story of St. Valentine), so long as you remember not to make it more serious or complicated than it is. Just a day to honor romantic love - not OMG MUST BUY CHOCOLATES AND ROSES AS DRAGONFODDER. I understand the reason why it's such a hated holiday, though - my friend Li-Chi calls it Singles Awareness Day for a reason, and the commercialism made of it makes me gag. But I like the reminder to connect and re-connect the holiday provides.

I now have a writerly urge, and want to do comic book scripts for a lighthearted Action/Romance/Comedy thing I'm calling Neon Veda Bodhisattva, at the mo, because the basic idea in my head was "like Evangelion off crack."

Basically, a super robot thang - aliens go "Umm, something is trying to blow up the Universe, and we both like the Universe - our houses are there. So will you help, humans? We'll give you shiny stuff too." Naturally, with a pitch like that, Earth accepts, and the story follows some college-age Bodhisatava class Mechanized Armor pilots (and thier Mech Cav, Flyboy and civilian friends) off Treasure Island.

Since I'm going to be writing scripts, I need an artist and a colorist... Siobahn, you're up for that latter honor if you want it. Also, I'm not falling into the trip of planning this too far, so I'll improvise, heavily.

May run this as a 3rd Ed BESM game too.

In other news, Dad is going to New Orleans tomorra night on Serious Business. I am envious. Chocolatefrapp, if you can reccommend him a good restaurant, please do.

And how was your St. Vals, everyone?

It being an alternate Saturday, I ran a session of my now 10-year-old Mage: the Ascension game, just as I would have on any other alternate Saturday.

This was only possible because the partner of one of my players is out of town, another player is unpartnered at the moment, and the last two players are a couple.

Fuck Hallmark!

Edited to clarify phrasing

Hallmark can go fuck itself. The holiday, though...

Without Hallmark, the chocolate companies, the jewelers, the florists, etc., no one would pay attention to the feast day of a minor saint. And the world would be a finer place for it.

Valentine's Day? What's that. Yeah. Me and Miss Bunny actually sent the Boy off to a friend's house overnight for the first time in ages. You know what amazingly romantic thing we did? Grocery shopping and kitchen cleanup. Oh, and I did some game prep. I think she worked on a grant.

The romance is hardly gone after 15 years, but it's definitely... different.
